Balasore: Three persons including a woman and her daughter were injured critically in a parcel bomb explosion at Dahapada village in Balasore district late last night.
The three injured, Sanjulata Pradhan, daughter Sharmistha and Jashobanta Pradhan, were rushed to the Balasore hospital. Two of them were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital as their condition worsened.
The accident occurred at around 11 pm last night when Sanjulata and daughter along with neighbour Jashobanta tried to open a sealed plastic box left behind by unknown persons at their house verandah. It suddenly went off injuring all of them.
Sanjulata said, “While trying to open the parcel box on which ‘Ekula’ was written, all of us were thrown by the blast.”
Indrajit Pradhan, another neighbour said, “Some liquid substance, a battery used for two-wheelers, glass pieces and handmade bomb were found at the spot.”
Meanwhile, the local police have initiated a probe into the parcel bomb explosion case.
