Bhubaneswar: At least four persons including two minor siblings met watery grave in separate drowning incidents that were reported in Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts here on Tuesday.
A pall of gloom descended in Malanda village in Keonjhar after two minor siblings– Manoj (5) and Dinesh (4) died after drowning in a pond.
According to reports, the brothers had gone to the anganwadi centres when they were last seen by the villagers and went missing after that. Later, their bodies were recovered from the village pond, sources said.
In another incident, a couple went missing after they were swept away in a canal at Koida in Sundargarh. They have been identified as Rathu Munda and his wife Srimati Munda.
Though a massive search operation was launched by the Fire Services, the couple could not be traced till last filing of this report.
