Encouraged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s growing connect with the people, BJP chief Amit Shah will be visiting Odisha from June 22 to 24.
Encouraged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s growing connect with the people of Odisha, BJP chief Amit Shah is set to lay the siege on the coastal state.
Shah, who is visiting the state again next month for three days from June 22 to June 24, has already lined up his top cabinet ministers and state party leaders to pick holes in the Biju Janata Dal (BJD)-led Naveen Patnaik’s government.
In all, about 70 political meetings are planned across Odisha throughout next month
Union ministers like M Venkaiah Naidu, Radha Mohan Singh, Dr Mahesh Sharma, General V K Singh, Babul Supriyo and Ram Kripal Yadav would join popular chief ministers like Shivraj Chouhan (of Madhya Pradesh) and BJP state minister Ajay Chandrakar from Chhattisgarh to address the public gathering and strengthen booth-level managements at about 36,000 booths across the state.
AMIT SHAH’S PLAN OF ACTION
Shah himself will be storming into Patnaik’s own home turf in Ganjam district.
Speaking exclusively to Mail Today, Union petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan said: “BJP chief Shah himself would visit Ganjam and another politically significant Jajpur constituency – a BJD stronghold – where all current MLAs are from Patnaik’s party, but our party chief has identified these two political constituencies to get the message of three years of PM Modi’s good governance to people across the state and make them judge our contribution in the state as against long rule of the Patnaik government.”
Shah had earlier visited the state during the two-day national executive in April where he had clearly laid out the BJP strategy to “go all out for unconquered territories”, including Odisha, as the next stop in 2019 along with general elections.
State BJP – under Pradhan – had already made Odisha an experimental laboratory of Modi’s pro-poor schemes and the same would be showcased in all these political meetings by BJP top leadership.
“PM Modi had struck a unique connect with Odisha people and we are organising booth-level meetings next month during Shah’s visit to strengthen our organisation at the grassroots. We are encouraged by public response here. Already, the last panchayat elections are a self-indicator about BJP’s growing surge across Odisha and credit goes to PM Modi’s pro-poor schemes,” added Pradhan.
While Naidu is scheduled to visit Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, CM Chouhan will address meetings in Bargarh, Mahesh Sharma will visit Bolangir and RM Singh will viist Ganjam and Khurda.
General Singh is going to address political meetings in Puri and RK Yadav will be visiting Ganjam and Kandhmal. Bengal’s popular singerturned-politician Babul Supriyo will be camping in Bhadrak, while Ajay Chandrakar will be addressing people in Koraput.
It is learnt that every booth identified – during Shah and other top leaders’ political meetings in Odisha – will showcase number of toilets, gas connections, power supply, jandhan accounts and drinking water supply in households to showcase Modi’s outreach to poor and socially marginalised.
“Under PM Modi and BJP chief Shah, the mission is to reach the unreachable and bring in as many people under the BJP fold to challenge Patnaik’s government in next state election,” said Pradhan.
